HEALTH & LIFESTYLE FOR WOMEN

COLLAGEN FILLERS – Monthly Clinic

From £275

This was the first inject able filler and was originally developed to treat accident, acne and post surgery scarring. It has been available for 30 years and is the only collagen with FDA (Food and Drugs Administration) approval. Collagen is a protein that is a filler substance in the body. As we age we loose some of this collagen, particularly in the face where we use muscle to make expressions.

Because proteins are very difficult to make, the collagen is made from bovine hide as this is the closest animal collagen to our own. The collagen is then processed to make it as close to human collagen as can be attained. A skin test is required before treatment can proceed. A small amount of this collagen is implanted in the forearm, a little behind one ear treatment can proceed 4 weeks later. An allergy would show itself as a pink or red insect bite. In which case another product would be suggested.

To maintain its effect, collagen top ups are recommended every 3-12 months depending on the individual.

ADVANTAGES of Collagen

The longest and most used product.

Deep and shallow lines and scars can all be treated.

The only product with a local anaesthetic incorporated in it to make it the least uncomfortable of these procedures.

DISADVANTAGES of Collagen

A possibility of an allergic reaction.

A delay of 4 weeks for the skin test

HYDRAFILL

HydraFill is a recent addition to the products used for filling lines and wrinkles. It is very similar to Restylane in that it is a non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid (NASHA). In other words, it is a sugar based gel and is used in the same way as Restylane and collagen. It does not require a test dose before treatment and does not have an anaesthetic in it.

HydraFill also comes in three thicknesses called Grades 1, 2 and 3. Grade 3 HydraFill is probably the thickest of all the fillers and can therefore be advantageous in very deep folds. It also seems more malleable then Restylane which again could be better in certain areas.

Collagen, Restylane and HydraFill are described as dermal implants.

ADVANTAGES of HydraFill

No skin test required.

Treatment can start straight away.

Can be less lumpy than Restylane in certain areas.

Good for increasing lip volume.

DISADVANTAGES of HydraFill

No anaesthetic therefore more uncomfortable to inject.

Not good for crows feet unless deep.

RESTYLANE

Restylane is a complex sugar type filler called Hyaluronic acid and is a naturally occurring sugar in the body. Like collagen it is used for various medical purposes and can be used to plump out lines and wrinkles and increase lip volume.

The chances of any allergy to this product are very slim indeed, although not impossible, and so no test is required before actual treatment. This means that you can proceed with your treatment straight away.

In order to keep the chances of allergy down to a minimum there is no anaesthetic incorporated in this product and so it does sting a little bit more that collagen.

Like collagen there are three thicknesses of this product which means it is quite versatile for treating different lines of different depth. It is great though for treating deep furrows and in some people can last longer than collagen. Top ups are recommended depending on the individual every 6-12 months.

ADVANTAGES of Restylane

No skin test required.

Treatment can start straight away.

Can last longer in some people.

GLYCOLIC FACE PEEL - Monthly Clinic

£POA

These peels are used to refine the skin texture, reduce open pores, lessen skin blemishes such as hyper pigmentation and soften fine lines. The skin look brighter and smoother.

Method

  1. Trichloraetc Acid and Vitamin C are painted over the area to be treated. The liquid feels cold when applied and then gradually heats up until it is quite hot although completely bearable. After a few minutes it is taken off thoroughly with water and a soothing mask is applied. The mask is then removed after about 15 minutes and a moisturiser and total sun block is applied.
  2. At this point your skin feels slightly tight as if you have sunbathed for too long.
  3. Peeling usually starts after a couple of days and can be a gentle sloughing of the skin or quite radical. It is quite hard to wear makeup at this time as the skin seems so dry, so we normally advise a week off work. The skin can look brownish and usually worse for a few days until the peeling is complete.
  4. We give you a particular creams and sun block to use several times a day until peeling has finished and advise the continued use of the sun block for a few months. Because of this we do not do peels in the summer months.

ADVANTAGES of Compositum Cold-Linked Gel Peel

Brightens skin, reduces blemishes, encourages now skin growth

Can be used on the face, neck, chest and hands

DISADVANTAGES of Compositum Cold-Linked Gel Peel

A week of looking old and wrinkly

Can cause hyper-pigmentation in rare cases.

HYPNOTHERAPY - By Appointment

£POA

Hypnotherapy is widely used for all psychosomatic disorders with the application of hypnotic techniques which involve going into a state of deep relaxation where the unconscious directly absorbs positive healing messages. These messages act like seeds. Knowingly or unknowingly you begin to act on them, making positive changes in your life.

Thoughts & Ideas
People can suffer from thoughts of low self-esteem, or obsessive thoughts about someone or something. They may not be able, for example, to get out of their minds the idea that they are suffering from an illness, despite medical reassurance. HYPNOTHERAPY can help the client to change such ideas.

Phobias
People often experience an irrational fear of a variety of insects, animals, objects or situations and HYPNOTHERAPY is particularly renowned for its effectiveness in assisting sufferers to overcome these distressing and inhibiting conditions.

Feelings
People can suffer from a wide variety of distressing feelings such as panic attacks, anxiety, jealousy, guilt, anger or inadequacy. Whatever the problem feeling, HYPNOTHERAPY can deal with it more specifically than can a drug - and without harmful side effects.

Habits
People can find themselves in the grip of many habits that they seem unable to control, from something like nail-biting or smoking to more deep-seated compulsions. HYPNOTHERAPY, using hypnotic techniques, can help to remove habits with precision and again, a total freedom from side effects.
